Thailand has an extensive road network and getting around is easy, whether it be by car or local transportation. There are various bus companies offering different types of service. Public transport buses are very cheap but are not the quickest way to travel as they stop wherever someone needs to get on or off. These are usually non air conditioned buses and are often older buses. Private companies have air conditioned and non air conditioned buses, which travel routes between all Thailand's towns and cities and is a surprisingly well developed system with routes not being restricted to large towns. The cost is very reasonable and because the buses make only minimal stops, is quite quick.
Hotels and tour companies offer an alternative method, offering travel in air conditioned mini buses or larger buses, however, this is usually restricted to routes such as Pattaya to Bangkok and Pattaya to Bangkok International Airport.
