Thailand has seen a huge increase in the number of international bars, or 'pubs', and this has brought with it a new type of food, the 'bar food'. Pattaya is no exception to this new craze and numerous establishments offer a huge variety of this type of cuisine. Bar Food tends to be prepared quickly, the idea being that it can be served and consumed easily and quickly. The origins tend to be from British traditional pubs and this offers such famous dishes as pie served with mashed or chipped potatoes, 'chips'. These include steak and kidney pie, porkpie, minced beef pie, shepherd's pie. Chips, baked beans and eggs are another mix and ploughman's lunch is another favourite, a selection of cheeses with pickled onions, fresh vegetables and bread.
Most bars offer the all day traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes and toast, served with copious amounts of tea or coffee.
Then there is the roast lunch, roast beef, roast pork or roast lamb, served with roast potatoes and cooked vegetables.
Try specially prepared hot soups with bread or stews such as goulash. There are countless varieties from which to choose, please check the Pattaya listings to make a selection.
