What is reciprocal linking?
Reciprocal linking is the process where two websites agree to exchange text and/or graphical links with each other, by placing links on their websites to the other site.
Why would a webmaster want to swap links with another website?
Swapping links with other websites increases each website's traffic and aids directly in increasing link popularity which is used now in many web search engine results.
What is link popularity?
Link popularity is a virtual 'rank' for each website, that search engines use to determine a website's placement in that search engine's results. Link popularity is determined by the total number of sites on the internet that are linking to your own website, and the link popularity rating of each of those linking websites. The better a website's link popularity, the higher and more frequently that website will appear in the results of many search engines that use link popularity to determine rankings.
Links that work and those that don't?
Only links on static HTML pages without any url redirection are guaranteed to work. If you have any kind of dynamic page; ASP or PHP or url's with ? in them then the likelihood is that they won't be read properly by the search engines. If you maintain that type of page and wish to swap links with us then we shall have to take each case into account before agreeing.
There are also many schemes to handle link management. Once such program is linksmanager.com. In our experience these are a total waste of time as they very often cannot find a valid link, keep the links on a different server than your site, continually move links around to different pages. All this makes it very hard for the search engines and ourselves to validate a link. If you insist on using such a scheme please keep our link away from the scheme and make a static page for it.
Please also ensure that the links page can be found from the front (index) page of your site and that the link is not dynamic so the search engines can find it.
Follow these simple rules and reciprocal linking will work. We maintain regular checks on the validity of our links in any of your pages as well as ensuring that Google counts the link for PageRanking purposes. Any link found to be non-conforming to these requirements will be deleted. We cannot maintain outbound links without reciprocal inbound links.
